In a recent effort to educate and keep workers safe during the coronavirus pandemic, The Occupation Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) released information to protect stockroom and loading dock workers. These employees may have frequent contact with customers and delivery drivers. The information released by OSHA includes safety tips employers can implement to protect workers in the retail industry from exposure to the coronavirus.
A few of the safety practices recommended by OSHA include:
- Limiting customer capacity in stores;
- Maintaining 6-feet between co-workers and customers when possible;
- Allowing workers to wear masks that cover both the nose and mouth to prevent the spread of the virus;
- Coordinate with vendors and delivery companies to minimize loading dock and stockroom workers’ contact with delivery drivers;
- And more!
